Néhol nagy mulatozások közepett, másutt visszafogottan, a koronavírus-járvány árnyékában ünnepelték a 2022-es évet. Amíg a New York-i Times Square a tavalyi kihagyás után idén telis-tele volt emberekkel, addig sok más világvárosban törölték a szilveszteri tűzijátékokat. Párizsban a Diadalív melletti tűzijátékot mondták le, Berlinben pedig a hagyományos szilveszteri ünnepséget. Ennek ellenére sokan úgy döntöttek, hogy a szilveszteri tűzijátékok és mulatságok megszokott helyén köszöntik az új esztendő eljövetelét.
