Befejeződött hétfő délután II. Erzsébet néhai brit uralkodó búcsúszertartása a londoni Westminster-apátságban.

 

A királynő koporsóját a múlt héten négy napra felravatalozták a londoni parlament legősibb épületében, az 1097-ben emelt Westminster Hallban. A ravatal brit idő szerint hétfő reggelig volt látogatható, és az előzetes becslések szerint valószínűleg meghaladta a félmilliót azoknak a száma, akik lerótták tiszteletüket a koporsónál.

 

A koporsót hétfő délelőtt átvitték a Westminster Halltól 250 méterre emelkedő Westminster-apátságba, az angol-brit monarchia ősi londoni koronázó templomába, és elhelyezték a búcsúszertartás idejére ott kialakított ravatalon. A ceremónián kétezer meghívott vendég vett részt.

A néhai királynő koporsóját a brit monarchia és az uralkodóház lobogója, a Royal Standard borítja, és tetején elhelyezték a koronázási ékszerekkel együtt a kétezer gyémánttal ékesített birodalmi állami koronát – Imperial State Crown –, amelyet a brit uralkodók a legjelesebb állami eseményeken viselnek.

A koporsót hétfőn a brit királyi haditengerészet katonái vontatta ágyútalpon vitték át a Westminster Hallból az apátságba. A lassú díszlépésben haladó menetet II. Erzsébet királynő elsőszülött fia és utódja, III. Károly király követte testvérei, Anna hercegnő, András yorki herceg és Eduárd, Wessex grófja kíséretében.

 

A menet mögött haladt a király két fia, Vilmos walesi herceg, a trón várományosa és Harry, Sussex hercege, Vilmos öccse is. Az apátságban valamivel több mint egyórás szertatással vettek búcsút a néhai uralkodótól.

A templom szorosan kötődik II. Erzsébet királynő életéhez: 1947. november 20-án, még hercegnőként itt kötött házasságot Fülöp herceggel – aki tavaly áprilisban, életének századik, házasságuk 73. évében hunyt el –, és itt koronázták meg 1953. június 2-án, trónra lépése után csaknem másfél évvel.

 

A Westminster-apátságban tartott búcsúszertartás után II. Erzsébet királynő koporsója szintén a katonák vontatta ágyútalpon, lassú díszmenetben elindult a Hyde Park délkeleti sarkában emelkedő, hozzávetőleg egyórányi útra lévő Wellington-emlékműhöz.

 

A Hyde Parktól gépjármű viszi a koporsót a királyi család legnagyobb és legősibb rezidenciájára. A néhai uralkodót a VI. György királyról – a királynő 1952-ben elhunyt édesapjáról – elnevezett windsori emlékkápolna királyi kriptájában helyezik végső nyugalomra hétfő este, szűk családi körben.
